Your result
About 6.5 jobs a month, worth about $2,275 a month or $27,300 a year, go to whoever answers next.
Formula: missed calls per week × 4.33 weeks per month × % new jobs × % that book × average job value.
Ringback costs $17/month. One saved $350 job covers about 20 months of Ringback.
How to get your real numbers
- Missed calls: your phone's call log, or your phone company's call report, for the last two or three weeks. Divide by the number of weeks.
- New jobs: look up the numbers you missed. Unknown local numbers are usually new customers.
- Booking rate: of the new customers you did answer last month, how many booked?
- Job value: total invoiced last month divided by the number of jobs.
Getting some of those jobs back
A caller who reaches voicemail often rings the next company on the list. A text from your number within seconds tells them you got the call and gives them a way to book, so fewer of them move on. Not every missed caller will book either way, which is why this calculator only counts your own booking rate. Ready-made wording is on the text-back templates page, and the missed-call text-back guide explains how it works.
Questions
How do I calculate what missed calls cost my business?
Multiply your missed calls per week by about 4.33 to get a month, then by the share that are new jobs, then by the share of those you would normally book, then by your average job value.
Are the starting numbers industry averages?
No. They are example values to show how the calculator works. Replace each one with your own figures from your call log and invoices.
