Missed-call text-back for pest control companies: keeping callers who want help today

Updated October 10, 2026

People call a pest control company right after they've seen the problem: a wasp nest by the door, droppings in the pantry, bites in the night. They want someone soon, and if nobody answers they call the next company. A missed-call text-back answers them by text from your own number within seconds, while your technicians are out on routes.

The calls pest control companies get

  • Urgent: stinging insects near a door or a play area, rodents in the kitchen, bed bugs.
  • Inspections: termite and real-estate (WDI) inspections, often with a closing date attached.
  • Recurring service: quarterly treatments, the steady work that is easy to book online.

When pest control calls get missed

  • Treating a crawl space or attic, in a respirator, with the phone left in the truck.
  • Running a full route, house to house all day.
  • Saturday mornings, when homeowners notice the problem and the office is shut.

Example texts

During working hours: "Hi, this is Green Shield Pest Control. Sorry we missed your call, our techs are on routes. Reply with what you're seeing (wasps, mice, bed bugs…) and your address, and we'll call you back. To book an inspection or regular service, pick a time here: [link]. Reply STOP to opt out."

After hours: "Green Shield Pest Control here. We're closed now. Book a visit here: [link], or reply with what you're seeing and we'll call you first thing tomorrow."

Inspection requests: "Green Shield Pest Control, sorry we missed you. Need a termite or real-estate inspection? Reply with the property address and your closing date and we'll offer the earliest slots."

After hours

Most pest calls can wait until morning, and the text can say so honestly. The exception is stinging insects near someone with an allergy: the reply should tell them to keep away from the nest and seek medical help for any reaction, and you call back first thing. Don't recommend products or treatments by text.

What to ask when they reply

  • What they are seeing and where: insects, droppings, gnaw marks or bites, and which rooms.
  • A photo of the insect, the nest or the droppings, if they can take one safely.
  • Whether children or pets live in the home, so the technician can plan the visit.
  • The address, to fit the visit into a route.

Real-estate and termite inspections

Inspection requests linked to a home sale usually come with a closing date. Ask for that date and the property address in the first reply, then offer the earliest slots. Agents and buyers remember the company that answered fast when a deadline was close.

Pest control software

Pest control companies often route and bill recurring service in pest-specific software such as PestPac, FieldRoutes or GorillaDesk. Ringback doesn't connect to them; it catches the new caller you missed and, if your software has an online booking page, can hand them that link.

Where Ringback fits

Ringback is missed-call text-back with a booking page, not an answering service or job software. It runs on the Android phone your business line rings on (or, with an iPhone, on a Mac with the Mac helper, beta), texts each missed caller from your own number (separate business-hours and after-hours messages, STOP/START handled) and puts replies in one inbox. $17/month or $170/year, no setup fee; the 7-day free trial takes a card through PayPal and is charged when it ends unless you cancel.

Fill-in wording: text-back templates. Related trades: lawn care and landscapers and house cleaners. Overview: missed-call text-back for contractors.

Questions

What should a pest control company text a missed caller?

Your company name, that the techs are on routes, and one ask: reply with what you are seeing and your address. Inspections and regular service get your booking link. End with Reply STOP to opt out.

Should I recommend a treatment by text?

No. Ask what they are seeing and where, ask for a photo, and get a technician to the property. Product advice by text can be wrong for the pest, the home or the people and pets in it.

How do I handle real-estate inspection requests?

Ask for the closing date and the property address in the first reply, then offer the earliest slots. These callers are working to a deadline.

Ringback works on an Android phone your business line rings on, or with an iPhone plus a Mac (Mac helper, beta) or a spare Android: see missed-call text-back on iPhone.
